Description

A vibrant and fiery Thai Hot and Spicy Beef stir-fry featuring tender sirloin, fresh herbs, and a perfect balance of savory and tangy flavors, served over aromatic jasmine rice. This quick and easy stovetop recipe captures the essence of traditional Thai cuisine with a spicy kick.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Marinade

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 red Thai chilies, sliced (adjust to taste)

Vegetables and Sauce

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Finishing and Garnishes

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves, chopped
  • Cooked jasmine rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the aromatics: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic, sliced shallots, and sliced Thai chilies. Sauté for 1–2 minutes until the mixture becomes fragrant but garlic is not burnt.
  2. Cook the beef: Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin to the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring often, until the beef is browned on the outside but still tender inside.
  3. Add vegetables and sauces: Stir in sliced red bell pepper, soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Continue cooking for another 2–3 minutes until the bell pepper is tender-crisp and the flavors have melded together.
  4. Finish with fresh herbs and lime: Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in fresh lime juice, chopped basil leaves, and chopped cilantro. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
  5. Serve: Serve the hot and spicy beef immediately over a bed of cooked jasmine rice to soak up the rich sauce and bold flavors.

Notes

  • Adjust the number of Thai chilies to control the spiciness according to your tolerance.
  • For a milder heat, remove the seeds from the chilies or replace them with more red bell pepper.
  • This dish is best served immediately to maintain the tender texture of the beef and freshness of the herbs.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce to make this recipe gluten-friendly.
