Description

This Slow Cooker Ravioli Lasagna is a comforting, easy-to-make dish that combines layers of frozen ravioli, rich ground beef seasoned with onions and herbs, marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese. It’s perfect for a hassle-free weeknight dinner, requiring minimal prep and delivering hearty, lasagna-inspired flavors using your slow cooker.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb. ground beef (can use mild sausage)
  • 1 cup white onion, diced
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. dried leaf oregano (not ground)

Main Ingredients

  • 25 oz. frozen ravioli (5 cheese recommended, DO NOT THAW)
  • 24 oz. marinara sauce (Rao’s recommended)
  • 8 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese (about 2 cups)

Instructions

  1. Brown the Meat: In a medium-sized non-stick skillet set to medium-high heat, add the ground beef and diced onion along with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano. Cook until the meat is browned but retain a few tablespoons of the cooking liquid to keep the meat moist. Do not drain completely.
  2. Prepare the Slow Cooker: Spray the inside of the slow cooker with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Assemble the Layers: Pour half of the marinara sauce into the bottom of the slow cooker. Layer half of the frozen ravioli over the sauce, then cover with all of the ground beef mixture. Add the remaining ravioli on top of the meat, followed by the rest of the marinara sauce.
  4. Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the layered ingredients.
  5. Cook: Cover the slow cooker with its lid and cook on LOW for 4 hours, allowing the ravioli to cook through and flavors to meld perfectly.
  6. Serve: Once cooked, serve the ravioli lasagna hot and enjoy a comforting, cheesy meal.

Notes

  • Do not thaw the ravioli before using; cook from frozen for best texture.
  • Retaining some cooking liquid in the browned meat helps keep the lasagna moist and flavorful.
  • If preferred, you can substitute ground beef with mild Italian sausage for a different flavor profile.
  • Use a high-quality marinara sauce like Rao’s for richer taste.
  • Ensure your slow cooker is sprayed well to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
