Description

This One-Pot Zesty Steak Pasta is a delicious and hearty meal combining tender sirloin steak, vibrant bell peppers, and creamy parmesan pasta all cooked together in a single pot. Perfect for a flavorful and easy weeknight dinner, this recipe blends Italian-inspired seasonings with rich and comforting ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Protein

  • 1 pound sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Vegetables and Aromatics

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced

Seasonings and Liquids

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 12 ounces penne pasta
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sear the Steak: Heat olive oil in a large deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Season the thinly sliced sirloin steak with salt and black pepper. Sear the steak slices for 2 to 3 minutes until browned on the outside but not fully cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: In the same pot, add the diced onion, minced garlic, and sliced red and yellow bell peppers. Sauté for about 4 minutes or until the vegetables are softened and fragrant.
  3. Add Seasonings: Stir in the Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes, and smoked paprika, mixing well with the sautéed vegetables to release the spices’ aromas.
  4. Cook Pasta and Sauce: Pour in the diced tomatoes with their juices, beef broth, and add the penne pasta. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer uncovered for 12 to 14 minutes. Stir occasionally until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
  5. Finish with Cream and Cheese: Return the steak slices to the pot. Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese until the mixture is creamy and well combined. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle fresh parsley over the top before serving for a bright, fresh finish.

Notes

  • For extra zest, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the finished dish just before serving.
  • You can substitute ribeye or flank steak for sirloin depending on your preference.
  • To lighten the dish, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lower fat alternative.
