For the Cabbage Rolls:
- 1 large head green cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1 cup cooked white rice
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
For the Sauce:
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Prepare the Cabbage: Boil a large pot of water. Remove cabbage core and boil head for 5-7 minutes. Peel off softened leaves and set aside.
- Make the Filling: Mix beef, pork, rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika in a bowl.
- Assemble Rolls: Place meat mixture on cabbage leaves, roll up, and place seam-side down in a baking dish.
- Prepare Sauce: Combine tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, sugar, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Pour over rolls.
- Bake: Cover and bake at 350°F for 1 hour. Uncover and bake an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

- You can prepare these ahead of time and refrigerate overnight before baking.
- For a leaner version, use all ground turkey.
