Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 12-cup muffin tin.
- Melt chocolate and butter: In a heatproof bowl, melt chocolate chips and butter together. Remove from heat.
- Mix in sugar and eggs: Whisk in sugar, then add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine mixtures: Fold dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined.
- Bake: Divide batter among muffin cups and bake for 15–18 minutes.
- Cool and serve: Allow to cool before dusting with powdered sugar and serving with berries or whipped cream.
Notes
- For a molten surprise, press a square of chocolate into the center of each cake before baking.
