Description

A hearty and comforting Macaroni and Beef skillet dish featuring ground beef simmered with tomato sauce, green peppers, and macaroni pasta, cooked together to create a flavorful and satisfying one-pan meal perfect for a quick family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1-1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper

Liquids and Sauces

  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Dry Ingredients and Seasonings

  • 1 package (7 ounces) macaroni
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef and onions: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef with the chopped onions until the beef is no longer pink, breaking the meat into crumbles as it cooks. Once cooked through, drain any excess fat from the skillet to keep the dish from being greasy.
  2. Add remaining ingredients: Stir in the tomato sauce, water, macaroni, chopped green pepper, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper into the skillet with the cooked beef and onions, mixing everything evenly.
  3. Simmer the mixture: Bring the skillet contents to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and allow the mixture to simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until the macaroni is tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and add more water if the mixture becomes too thick during cooking.

Notes

  • Drain excess fat after browning the beef to reduce grease.
  • Stir occasionally while simmering to prevent macaroni from sticking to the pan.
  • Additional water can be added if the mixture becomes too dry before pasta is fully cooked.
  • This recipe serves about 6 people.
  • Use mild or hot green peppers based on your spice preference.
