Description

This Low Carb Crustless Pizza Bowl is a delicious, keto-friendly twist on traditional pizza, featuring a savory blend of ground sausage, pepperoni, sautéed vegetables, and melted mozzarella cheese baked in a flavorful marinara sauce base. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal with minimal carbs.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • Rao’s Marinara sauce (or any low-carb marinara sauce), enough to cover the pan bottom

Meat

  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 10-12 slices pepperoni

Vegetables

  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced

Seasonings and Toppings

  • 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon Flavor Gods Pizza Seasoning (or your favorite pizza seasoning)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Other

  • Disposable pie pan or a 9-inch baking dish
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing pan

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare the Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a disposable pie pan or a 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray or a little oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Add Marinara Sauce: Pour enough Rao’s Marinara sauce into the greased pan to evenly cover the bottom, creating a flavorful base for your pizza bowl.
  3. Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage. Use a spoon or spatula to break it into small pieces while cooking until browned and fully cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Sauté the Vegetables: Using the same skillet, add the sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté on medium heat for about 5-7 minutes or until the vegetables are soft and slightly caramelized.
  5. Assemble the Pizza Bowl: Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the marinara sauce in the pan. Add the sautéed onions and mushrooms on top, and then layer the pepperoni slices evenly over the mixture.
  6. Season and Add Cheese: Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of pizza seasoning, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and optional crushed red pepper flakes over the assembled ingredients. Finally, cover everything with a generous 1 ½ cups of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake: Place the assembled pizza bowl in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  8. Broil: Switch your oven setting to broil. Broil the pizza bowl for 1-2 minutes just until the cheese turns golden brown and develops a slight crust. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  9. Serve: Remove the pizza bowl from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your low carb, crustless pizza bowl!

Notes

  • You can swap ground sausage with ground beef or turkey for variation.
  • Adding other vegetables like bell peppers or spinach can enhance nutrition and flavor.
  • Use a low-carb marinara sauce to keep the recipe keto-friendly.
  • If you don’t have a disposable pie pan, a regular 9-inch baking dish works perfectly.
  • For extra spice, increase crushed red pepper flakes to taste.
  • Make sure to keep an eye while broiling since cheese can burn quickly.
