Description

These Honey and Garlic Roasted Mushrooms are a flavorful and easy side dish featuring tender cremini or button mushrooms roasted with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfectly caramelized in the oven, this recipe combines honey, garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar for a delicious umami-packed treat that complements any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Mushrooms

  • 1 pound cremini or button mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Mushrooms: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp paper towel and trimming the stems slightly.
  2. Make Honey Garlic Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  3. Coat Mushrooms: Place the cleaned mushrooms in a large mixing bowl and toss them evenly with the honey garlic sauce, ensuring each mushroom is well coated.
  4. Arrange Mushrooms: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Spread the mushrooms out in a single layer to prevent overcrowding and to promote even roasting.
  5. Roast Mushrooms: Roast the mushrooms in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time, stir or toss the mushrooms to ensure they roast evenly and develop a golden brown color.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Once the mushrooms are tender and golden brown, remove them from the oven. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use cremini mushrooms for a richer flavor, but button mushrooms work well too.
  • Do not overcrowd the mushrooms on the baking sheet to ensure even roasting.
  • Adjust the amount of honey if you prefer a sweeter or less sweet sauce.
  • Fresh parsley adds a nice color and fresh taste but can be omitted.
  • This dish can be served as a side or tossed into salads and pasta for extra flavor.
