Description

This Grilled Octopus recipe delivers tender, charred octopus with a Mediterranean flair. The octopus is first simmered with aromatic ingredients, then marinated and grilled to perfection. A delightful seafood dish for any occasion.

Main Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds octopus, cleaned

For the Marinade:

  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Octopus: Boil water with lemon, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns, and salt. Add octopus, simmer 45–60 minutes until tender. Cut into pieces.
  2. Marinate: Whisk olive oil, vinegar, paprika, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Toss octopus in the marinade and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Grill: Preheat grill, grill octopus pieces for 3–4 minutes per side until charred.
  4. Serve: Transfer to a platter, sprinkle with parsley, and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For the most tender texture, avoid overcooking the octopus in the boiling stage.
  • You can prepare the octopus a day ahead, refrigerate, and grill just before serving.
