Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp and Sauce
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup white wine (optional)
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Mashed Potatoes
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Potatoes: Peel and dice the potatoes, then place them in a pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 15 minutes.
- Mash the Potatoes: Drain and return the potatoes to the pot. Add the milk and butter, and mash until smooth and creamy.
- Season Potatoes: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside and keep warm.
- Cook Garlic in Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Cook Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side until the shrimp turn pink and are fully cooked through.
- Create Sauce: Pour in the white wine (if using) and chicken broth. Simmer for about 2 minutes to slightly thicken the sauce and meld the flavors.
- Add Seasonings: Stir in the red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper to taste. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Serve: Plate the creamy mashed potatoes and top with the garlic butter shrimp. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a richer mashed potato, substitute some of the milk with cream.
- If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, omit the white wine and increase chicken broth slightly.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to control spice level or omit for a mild flavor.
- Use fresh parsley for garnish to add a vibrant color and fresh flavor.
- Ensure shrimp are not overcooked to keep them tender and juicy.
