Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound bok choy, washed and chopped
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon water or broth
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil for finishing
Instructions
- Heat Oil: Heat the vegetable or sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, preparing the pan to infuse flavors quickly.
- Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for 20 to 30 seconds until fragrant and aromatic without burning.
- Cook Bok Choy Stems: Add the chopped bok choy stems first and stir-fry for 2 minutes until they become slightly tender yet crisp.
- Add Leaves and Seasonings: Add the leafy green parts of the bok choy along with soy sauce, optional oyster sauce, salt, pepper, and water or broth. Stir-fry for 2 to 3 more minutes until the leaves wilt and the stems become crisp-tender.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the pan from heat and drizzle with sesame oil for a fragrant finishing touch before serving immediately.
Notes
- For added protein, stir in tofu, shrimp, or sliced chicken during the cooking process.
- A splash of rice vinegar or chili oil can be added to enhance the flavor profile.
- Ensure to not overcook the bok choy to retain its crisp texture and vibrant color.
