Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
Main Dough
- 2 cans Grands Cinnamon Rolls (with icing, optional for topping)
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the monkey bread.
- Prepare the Pan: Lightly grease a cake or fluted bundt pan to prevent sticking and make removal of the bread easier.
- Mix Cinnamon Sugar: Add 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon to a large Ziploc bag and shake to combine evenly.
- Cut the Dough: Separate the cinnamon roll dough and cut each roll into quarters to create evenly sized dough pieces for coating and baking.
- Coat the Dough Pieces: Place the quartered dough pieces in the cinnamon sugar bag, seal, and shake until all pieces are coated well with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Arrange in Pan: Remove the coated pieces from the bag and arrange them evenly in the prepared bundt pan, layering as needed to fill the pan.
- Prepare Brown Sugar Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the firmly packed brown sugar and melted butter until well mixed. Pour this mixture evenly over the arranged dough pieces in the pan.
- Bake: Place the pan in the oven and bake for 28 to 32 minutes, or until the monkey bread is golden brown and no longer doughy in the center.
- Cool and Release: Remove the monkey bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully invert the pan onto a serving plate to release the bread.
- Serve: Pull apart the monkey bread while it is warm. Optionally, drizzle the reserved icing from the cinnamon roll cans over the top before serving for added sweetness.
Notes
- Use a bundt pan for the classic monkey bread shape; a cake pan can also be used but the shape may differ.
- Make sure to grease the pan well to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal.
- For an extra gooey treat, drizzle the cinnamon roll icing on top after baking while the bread is still warm.
- Serving warm enhances the soft, gooey texture that makes monkey bread so delicious.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the microwave briefly to enjoy warm again.
