Ingredients
Scale
For the Bread:
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 pound frozen bread dough, thawed
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (sprinkled on top)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Spray a loaf pan lightly with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper. Lightly spray the inside of the parchment paper as well to prevent sticking.
- Thaw the Dough: Place your frozen bread dough loaf into the parchment-lined loaf pan and thaw according to the package instructions, usually between 4 to 7 hours, until fully thawed and slightly risen.
- Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a shallow dish, combine 1/2 cup sugar with 1 tablespoon cinnamon; set this cinnamon-sugar mixture aside for coating the dough.
- Cut Slits in Dough: Using a sharp knife, slice 5 to 6 horizontal slits across the top of the dough, cutting about half the depth of the dough. These slits allow the bread to pull apart easily after baking.
- Coat with Butter and Cinnamon Sugar: Melt the butter and generously brush it onto the top and inside the slits of the dough. Then liberally sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the buttered surface until fully coated.
- Let Rise: Place the loaf pan in a warm place and let the dough rise for 30 minutes to develop a light, fluffy texture before baking.
- Bake: Once risen, sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar evenly over the top of the dough. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
- Make Glaze: While the bread bakes, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if necessary to achieve a drizzle-able glaze.
- Glaze and Serve: Allow the bread to cool slightly after baking. Drizzle the prepared glaze over the top of the warm bread. Serve immediately and enjoy the comforting, sweet treat.
Notes
- Ensure your bread dough is fully thawed before starting the recipe to ensure even rising and baking.
- Adjust the amount of milk in the glaze to achieve your preferred consistency—thicker for a heavier glaze, thinner for a lighter drizzle.
- For an extra touch, consider adding chopped nuts or raisins into the slits before baking if you like.
- Store leftovers wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Reheat gently before serving.
