Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Sauce
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 packet Italian dressing mix (about 1 ounce)
- 1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed golden mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 4 ounces cream cheese
Pasta
- 1 pound angel hair pasta
Instructions
- Prepare Chicken: Place the 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts at the bottom of your crockpot, arranging them evenly.
- Make the Sauce: Melt 1/4 cup butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the packet of Italian dressing mix, the can of condensed golden mushroom soup, 1/2 cup chicken broth, and 4 ounces cream cheese. Stir constantly until the mixture becomes a smooth and creamy sauce.
- Combine: Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the chicken breasts in the crockpot, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
- Cook Chicken: Cover the crockpot with its lid and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours, or until the chicken is tender and fully cooked through.
- Cook Pasta: Near the end of the cooking time, cook 1 pound of angel hair pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Drain the pasta well.
- Serve: Plate the cooked angel hair pasta and top with the tender chicken breasts and generous amounts of the creamy sauce from the crockpot. Serve immediately for best flavor.
Notes
- You can substitute cream cheese with mascarpone for a slightly tangier flavor.
- For a thicker sauce, remove the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow some liquid to evaporate.
- Leftover sauce can be reheated gently on stovetop; add a splash of chicken broth if it thickened too much.
- Angel hair pasta works best as it soaks up the sauce nicely without overpowering the delicate texture of the chicken.
- This recipe can also be prepared in an Instant Pot using the slow cooker function if your crockpot is unavailable.
