Description

Deliciously creamy and safe-to-eat cookie dough frosting featuring heat-treated flour and mini chocolate chips, perfect for spreading on cupcakes, cakes, or cookies without any baking required.

Ingredients

Scale

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour (heat-treated)
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup (90g) mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, ensuring smooth texture for the frosting base.
  2. Add Flavor and Liquid: Mix in the salt, vanilla extract, and milk until the mixture is smooth and evenly incorporated.
  3. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually beat in the heat-treated all-purpose flour and powdered sugar until fully combined and creamy, forming the body of the frosting.
  4. Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips to distribute them evenly throughout the frosting without breaking them.
  5. Adjust Consistency: If the frosting is too thick, add a splash more milk for spreading ease; if too soft, add a bit more powdered sugar to thicken.
  6. Use or Store: Use the frosting immediately to frost your cupcakes, cakes, or cookies, or store in the refrigerator until ready to use. Bring to room temperature before spreading for best results.

Notes

  • Heat-treat flour by microwaving in a bowl for about 1 minute or baking at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes to eliminate harmful bacteria. This step is crucial as raw flour should not be consumed untreated.
  • This frosting is ideal for spreading but not suitable for piping intricate designs.
