Meat Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Cheese Sauce
- 1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cheddar cheese soup
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
French Fries
- 1 package frozen French fries (crinkle-cut or shoestring)
Optional Toppings
- Pickles
- Diced tomatoes
- Lettuce
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Ranch dressing
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the diced onion until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain the excess grease. Season the mixture with garlic powder, salt, and pepper for flavor.
- Add Cheese Sauce: Stir in the condensed cheddar cheese soup and milk into the beef mixture. Mix well until the sauce is creamy and everything is fully combined, then remove from heat.
- Assemble the Casserole: Spread the beef and cheese sauce mixture evenly in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the beef layer.
- Add the French Fries: Arrange the frozen French fries in a single layer over the cheese-topped beef mixture. Then sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the fries.
- Bake the Casserole: Place the assembled casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the fries are golden and crispy, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Serve the casserole hot topped with your favorite burger accompaniments such as pickles, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and sauces like ketchup, mustard, or ranch dressing. Enjoy!
Notes
- You can use crinkle-cut or shoestring fries based on your texture preference.
- For extra crispiness, you can broil the casserole for the last 1-2 minutes; watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Feel free to customize toppings to suit your taste and dietary needs.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
