Scale
Ingredients
- 4 medium-sized lemons (preferably fresh and organic)
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 4 cups cold water
- 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1-2 cups ice cubes (or more, depending on preference)
- Lime wedges or lemon slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Lemons: Wash the lemons thoroughly to remove any dirt or wax. Cut off the ends of each lemon, then cut them into 8 wedges each, using the whole fruit including the peel.
- Blend the Ingredients: Add the lemon wedges, cold water, sweetened condensed milk, and sugar into a blender.
- Blend Thoroughly: Blend on high speed for 30 seconds to 1 minute until the lemons are completely broken down and the mixture becomes frothy, indicating everything is well combined.
- Strain (Optional): For a smoother texture, strain the blend through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove pulp and seeds. This step can be skipped if you prefer more texture.
- Add Ice and Blend Again: Add the ice cubes to the blender and pulse again until the ice is crushed and the drink is cold and frothy.
- Serve: Pour the Brazilian lemonade into glasses, garnish with lime wedges or lemon slices if desired, and serve immediately for the best refreshing experience.
Notes
- Using whole lemons, peel and all, gives the drink its signature bitterness and depth of flavor.
- Adjust sugar quantity based on your sweetness preference.
- Straining is optional and depends on desired texture.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the chilled frothy texture.
- If lemons are not organic, consider peeling before blending to reduce bitterness from wax or pesticides.
