Scale
Ingredients
- 1 round sourdough or French bread loaf
- 8 oz wheel of Brie cheese
- 1/2 cup whole cranberry sauce (fresh or canned)
- 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
- Fresh thyme leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the bread bowl.
- Prepare Bread Bowl: Slice off the top of the bread loaf and carefully hollow out the center, leaving about a 1-inch-thick shell to create a sturdy bowl for the filling.
- Assemble: Place the Brie wheel inside the hollowed-out bread bowl. Evenly spread the cranberry sauce over the top of the Brie. If using, sprinkle the chopped pecans or walnuts over the cranberry layer and drizzle honey on top for added sweetness.
- Bake: Place the assembled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the Brie has melted and becomes gooey.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and garnish with fresh thyme leaves. Serve warm with the bread pieces removed from the center or additional bread slices for dipping.
Notes
- For added flavor and a crunchier texture, lightly toast the bread bowl before assembling the ingredients.
- You can substitute the cranberry sauce with fig jam or raspberry preserves for a different twist.
- This dish is best served immediately to enjoy the melty, gooey texture of the Brie.
